Who we work with

We work with organizations whose ambitions have outgrown their infrastructure.

Our clients are often doing important work, growing quickly, navigating transition, or preparing for a more ambitious future. They need their people, systems, and strategy aligned around where they’re trying to go.

Who we help

Purpose matters. So does the infrastructure behind it.

  • Purpose-driven businesses and social enterprises

Companies pursuing growth while maintaining a meaningful commitment to people, communities, or positive impact.

  • Nonprofit organizations

Organizations strengthening fundraising, finance, data, technology, operations, or organizational capacity.

  • Foundations and philanthropic institutions

Organizations seeking stronger grantmaking, financial clarity, and operational infrastructure.

  • Complex organizations with multiple entities

Organizations managing multiple programs, locations, revenue streams, legal entities, or stakeholder groups.

Moments of change

The right infrastructure becomes most visible when circumstances change.

Change Up is especially valuable during:

  • Rapid growth
  • New executive leadership
  • Organizational restructuring
  • Major technology implementation
  • Merger or integration
  • Campaign or expansion planning
  • Finance or data breakdown
  • Staff turnover
  • Increased board scrutiny
  • Strategic-plan implementation
  • A transition from founder-led practices to institutional systems

The ideal partnership

Change works best when an organization is willing to see itself clearly.

Our strongest partnerships are with leaders who want practical implementation, not recommendations alone. They understand that meaningful change crosses departmental boundaries, are willing to include employees closest to the work, and value clarity, accountability, and continuous improvement.

We aim to build internal strength, not permanent dependence on a consultant.

Experience

Experience across missions, models, and stages of growth.

Our work has included:

  • Arts and culture
  • Human services
  • Food access and recovery
  • Health and wellbeing
  • Education and youth development
  • Advocacy
  • Entertainment and media
  • Purpose-driven businesses
  • Foundations and philanthropy

Sector experience matters, but the central question remains the same: what organizational infrastructure will allow this team to do its best work?

Client stories

Different organizations. Shared challenges.

All client stories
  • Nonprofit

From competing numbers to a shared Optimal Horizon

A new executive director inherited finances no one could reconcile, despite several outside consultants. The problem wasn’t anyone’s competence: no one owned the whole system. An assessment and an Optimal Horizon Workshop gave staff, consultants and the board one map and one plan, and the organization went on to its strongest revenue year.

  • Nonprofit

    More than a database problem

After a troubled move to a new donor database, development and finance couldn’t agree on the numbers. A Data Up assessment showed the database was only the visible part of the problem. Shared gift-processing rules, a monthly reconciliation and a written operations manual restored trust in the data, and between the teams.

  • Nonprofit

From a reconciliation question to a strategic roadmap

It started as a narrow question about processing gifts and reconciling them with finance. Following the evidence led to a board-level conversation about capacity, then a full organizational assessment. Capable people had been compensating for systems built for an earlier horizon, and leadership now has a phased plan to fix the structure.
